A governess/tutor is sought for a family residing in London, Kensington. The family has three daughters aged 5, 2 ½ and 1 ½ years. They have a fully staffed household whereby you will be working as part of a large team and in conjunction with their current rota nannies who ensure 24/7 care for the children

The family has a range of multilingual staff, the mother is Italian, and they are keen to add an experienced and educated governess who speaks English as a first language to work with the children through their EYFS with an educational focus by working with them and tailoring age-appropriate, interesting, fun, and engaging activities through structured play and at mealtimes to encourage their language development in English.

Due to the family’s international nature (Italian Mother Tongue), employing many multilingual staff, they are keen to introduce a British influence for the children in the form of a Governess or EYFS Tutor.  The Tutor’s primary focus will be on the eldest of the 3 girls with some time introducing language skills to the younger ones through structured play and mealtime conversation.

The Governess/Tutor will concentrate on the educational support for the eldest girl, currently in Year 1 in a London prep school. The role is to ensure she is prepared in the morning – including being washed and ready for school. The afternoons will be spent structuring her activities schedule, accompanying her to classes (there is a driver available for the children), homework assistance – as well as ensuring there is good comprehension of all completed tasks – before providing wider education enrichment. This will include daily reading, spelling and other educational games. It is anticipated that the Tutor will have approximately 1 – 1.5 hours to focus with the girl each afternoon.

The Governess/Tutor will eat meals with the children to encourage good table manners and etiquette to provide time for wider conversation which will enrich their English vocabulary, conversational and social skills.

The Governess/Tutor will be required to oversee all communication with school as well other clubs/ activities.

The household staff includes a housekeeper who will cook all meals (all healthy and nutritionally balanced), laundry staff, nannies, and drivers/ security. The Tutor will be expected to work alongside this welcoming team and to be flexible enough to assist as needed.

The working hours during term time are Monday – Friday 0730 – 1930. You will have significant free time during the school day, with some time spent supporting the nannies with the younger two girls – educational play – and time to prepare resources. The Governess/Tutor will be asked to accompany the family for periods of time by mutual agreement when they are travelling during their holiday periods.

The salary on offer is £80,000 gross per annum. Separate accommodation can be provided by the family close to their home if required.

This role is to start ASAP and the family is ready to start interviewing immediately.
