Why Hiring a Summer Nanny is an Act of Love & Kindness for Your Family
Finally it’s the summer holidays, excitement is high and your little ones are likely buzzing like happy bees! As a parent splitting time between work, family, commitments and leisure time, the summer holiday break can often feel overwhelming and throws the usual routine into chaos. It can be a frustrating time as you’d like to give your children your undivided attention, to play and have fun, but the realities of daily life and commitments mean that this just isn’t possible.
Having a nanny as part of your family allows you to feel connected and involved in the merriment and excitement of the summer holidays but allows you the space to keep everything else ticking over. If you would like, you are able to work alongside your nanny to create a wonderful schedule of activities and excursions. This allows you to be part of creating precious memories for your children even when you’re not able to be there in person.
Securing an abundant and bright future for children requires a lot of hard work and commitment and can often mean that being physically present with your child everyday just isn’t possible. This is absolutely nothing to feel guilty about as being a parent requires sacrifice, focus and determination to create a life in which a child can most thrive. You may not be able to go to the seaside with your child or get to fly a kite on a weekday but you do get to be a part of how your child enjoys their summer break. They get to know how much you care for them and wish them a wonderful day out with their nanny.
Embracing quality time over quantity is a great mantra to live by. When we show up for our children fully present and committed to sharing a wonderful experience they feel it. They’d much rather have Mum or Dad who is calm, relaxed and present during the weekends than a frazzled, scattered and impatient multi-tasker during the week. Many people have judgements towards families who hire a nanny, they may believe that it is lazy and uncaring but actually it is an incredible declaration of love and kindness.
To hire a nanny for your child means that you care deeply about your child getting their needs met and having constant emotional support. To hire a nanny means that you choose not to neglect your child’s needs sitting them in front of a television for hours on end, but rather wish to create an environment where they can be positively reinforced and nurtured. In an ideal world parents would be their children’s nannies, they would have the time and energy to devote but the reality of our society is something very different.
We need support, we need community and we need love to carry us through. Hiring a holiday nanny says ‘I care about my child having the best summer holiday that they possibly can. I am taking care of my family and I am taking care of myself’. And anyone who chooses to believe otherwise should question in what way they are in turn judging themselves.
School’s out for summer, and as a parent or guardian, don’t you know it! It’s vital to carve out daily moments of self-care throughout the summer holidays to see you thriving over surviving.
