An experienced and educated Governess is required for the care of three children aged B10 (Jun), B7 (Jan) and G4 (May). The family live around 15 minutes from Brighton. The children live between two households with their mother and father, they live within a 5-minute drive of each other and there is a very nice split living situation. The parents are seeking a Governess to assist the children in maintaining a well-structured routine, assisting them getting organised for school, playdates, extra-curricular activities and homework support where possible. The ideal candidate will have at least 5 years’ experience as a Governess and be confident working with children of various ages, cooking simple meals and promoting healthier eating choices. The household does not have any food restrictions or allergies, you must be comfortable preparing all foods.
The ideal candidate will be a self-starter and confident to start the role and advise and guide the parents where they can – in essence the family are looking for a ‘third parent’ to support the children and ensure there is consistency in pattern and routines across their week. That’s why a confident and forward-thinking candidate with great organisational skills would be ideal with someone who is happy to assist with running some household errands and advising on things that may need doing around the household to support the children. Accommodation will be live-out with good rental options in the surrounding areas of Haywards Heath, Brighton and Hove.
The working hours will be from Monday – Friday 12pm – 7pm during term time. The hours may increase during school holiday but will not exceed 50 hours per week. Whilst the parents will likely continue to drop the children to school themselves, a degree of flexibility is needed from time to time, and you may be asked to assist in the mornings in the event that the parents are required to travel for work commitments. A driver with own car is required as the family doesn’t have a spare vehicle, however they will be happy to pay for additional business insurance on your policy to cover you.
The eldest son’s (10 years old) main interests are technology, drama and arts and crafts and he is charismatic and well-liked by his peers. The family would like the candidate to be able to support him to make healthier choices with screen time and food. Although currently undiagnosed there may be some indications of ADHD traits so a candidate with limited SEN experience and who can deal with varying emotional responses is preferred.
The 7-year-old boy is a keen rugby and cricket player, enjoys school and loves maths and reading, board games and is self-motivated with regards to studying.
Their daughter is 4 years old. She is a confident girl with a strong personality, and very sociable. She enjoys colouring and riding on her bike and scooter. She attends rugby at the weekend with her brother and is happy to play outdoors and get muddy!
The role is to start around April 2025. Therefore, this would suit a candidate seeking a Spring start date, especially if your current role is coming to an end. The salary on offer for this role is £50,000 gross per annum. The family is ready to start interviewing candidates in February.
