Contract Length: 2 months – June & July
Schedule: Monday to Friday, 7:30am – 4:00pm (hours may vary occasionally). There may be one or two weekend days required during the booking, as well as occasional early evening supervision, to be discussed in advance.
Salary: £20–£25 gross per hour depending on experience and qualifications
Description:
A warm and welcoming family travelling to the UK from Australia is seeking a calm, confident and experienced temporary full-time live-out nanny to care for their 2-year-old daughter. The role will be based in Hackney, London. Ideally, the family would like a nanny who drives and has their own vehicle who is comfortable driving in London.
The child is an active and curious toddler who enjoys books, outdoor play, water play, drawing and running around. She is generally a happy child but, as expected for her age, can occasionally have her little ‘moments’. The parents are keen to work with a nanny who is experienced with toddlers and confident supporting potty training, as they see this as a great opportunity to establish consistent habits.
The family maintains a structured daily routine which the nanny will be expected to follow. The child wakes at 7:00am, naps from 12:00–2:00pm and goes to bed at 7:00pm (or earlier depending on nap length, for example 6:30pm if the nap is shorter). The nanny will start at 7:30am and take responsibility for the child’s care throughout the day. The role is Monday – Friday.
The role is primarily focused on childcare. The nanny will not be required to complete household chores or cook family meals. The parents will prepare the child’s meals, though the nanny may occasionally prepare simple snacks such as a sandwich.
The family follows clear and consistent boundaries, including a firm “no means no” approach. They are looking for a nanny who shares this philosophy and can maintain calm, consistent and confident responses when guiding behaviour. Television is only allowed at weekends, and the family also limits sugar intake, allowing little to none aside from occasional home baking.
Both properties have stairs, so the nanny must be attentive and confident managing toddler safety in this environment.
Duties Include:
• Providing attentive and engaging care for a 2-year-old toddler
• Supporting potty training with a consistent and positive approach
• Following the child’s established routine for sleep, play and activities
• Encouraging development through play, reading and creative activities
• Supervising indoor and outdoor play
• Preparing occasional simple snacks if required
• Maintaining a calm and structured environment
• Ensuring safety at all times, particularly around stairs
Requirements:
• Proven experience caring for toddlers, ideally aged 2 years
• Up-to-date Paediatric First Aid certificate (essential)
• Enhanced DBS check (essential)
• Childcare qualifications preferred
• Calm, consistent and confident childcare approach
• Experience supporting potty training
• Confident managing toddler behaviour and maintaining clear boundaries
• Driving licence and access to a car preferred
Additional Information:
• No household chores required
• Minimal meal preparation (occasional simple snack)
• Strict routine and consistent boundaries are important to the family
• TV only permitted at weekends
• Limited sugar in the child’s diet
If you are a nurturing, active, organised and experienced nanny who enjoys working with toddlers and supporting early developmental milestones, this could be a lovely temporary position with a friendly visiting family.
