A lovely Swiss/American family, primarily based in Miami, are seeking an experienced, career nanny for a temporary engagement in Gstaad, Switzerland from January 10th until March 10th, 2027. They are looking for a fluent English and French-speaking nanny who would genuinely enjoy spending approximately two months living and working with the family in the mountains while the children attend school. Ideally, the family would love to find a US-based candidate who could start with them in Miami in late December, travel with the family to Switzerland in January and then continue with them on a long-term basis in the USA following the Swiss placement. If this is not possible, the family will look to appoint two separate candidates.
They are looking for an English and French-speaking nanny who is warm, professional and naturally curious, with a genuine interest in children’s development. The ideal candidate will be dynamic, proactive and able to encourage the children’s individual interests through creative, educational and age-appropriate activities.
The children are bright, happy and engaging. The eldest, aged 6, is curious, easy-going and loves skiing, arts and crafts and trying different activities. Her 4-year-old brother is very intelligent, funny and enjoys Lego, marble runs and sports. The youngest, aged 2, loves imaginative play, dressing up and all things girly. All of the children like to swim.
The nanny will have both sole and shared charge and should be confident working independently and taking initiative. Duties will include helping the children get ready for school, breakfast and clearing up, school runs, planning activities and caring for the children after school. The usual hours are 6:30am–8:30am and 12pm–8pm, Monday to Saturday, up to 10 hours per day.
The youngest attends school from 8:30am–12pm and the older two from 8:30am–4pm. The family have a chef, although the nanny should be happy to prepare healthy, simple meals for the children when required.
The family are very family-oriented and place great importance on family time. The mother’s parents live just five minutes away and are very involved grandparents who will often happily spend time with their grandchildren. The successful nanny should therefore be comfortable working as part of a warm, close-knit family environment and alongside extended family.
The family home in Gstaad is situated next to the ski slopes and train station, approximately 15 minutes from the centre. A keen skier who would genuinely enjoy spending time living in the mountains would be ideal. There may also be some European travel and long weekends while in Switzerland.
In Switzerland, live-in accommodation is provided. If the successful candidate is continuing with the family in Miami, live-out accommodation will be provided until August 2027, when the role will become live-in once the nanny accommodation is ready. The family also have a small dog.
