Job Description
A private British family is seeking an experienced and engaging English-speaking Governess to join them on a temporary basis throughout July and August whilst travelling between Turkey, Spain, and France.
As an experienced Governess, you will have a minimum of 5 years’ experience working with children of a similar age and be confident supporting academic development whilst creating a fun, nurturing, and stimulating environment. Your primary responsibility will be assisting the family’s 9-year-old daughter with her 11+ preparation, ensuring lessons remain engaging, structured, and tailored to her individual learning style. Alongside this, you will also provide support for her younger sister, aged 4.5 years, through fun, age-appropriate educational activities, encouraging learning through play, creativity, and exploration.
The ideal candidate will be kind, patient, adaptable, and highly organised, with the ability to build a positive rapport with both children. You will be confident planning engaging educational activities, encouraging curiosity and confidence, and adapting your approach to suit each child’s individual needs. Previous experience preparing children for the UK 11+ examinations is essential.
As the Governess, you will be responsible for planning and delivering daily educational sessions for the eldest child, supporting her English, mathematics, verbal and non-verbal reasoning, comprehension, and general exam preparation. You will monitor her progress, provide constructive encouragement, and communicate updates to the parents as required. Alongside this, you will organise stimulating activities for the younger sibling, including arts and crafts, reading, educational games, outdoor play, and other developmentally appropriate learning experiences that encourage creativity, independence, and social development.
You will be working alongside additional childcare support within the household, allowing you to focus primarily on the children’s educational development whilst collaborating closely with the family and wider household team. This is a fully supported role within a relaxed and respectful family environment.
The schedule will be 5 days per week, working up to 10 hours per day. The family are travelling extensively throughout Turkey, Spain, and France during the summer; therefore the successful candidate must be flexible, enjoy travelling, and be comfortable adapting to different locations and routines. Live-in accommodation will be provided throughout the duration of the role.
Package:
• Salary: £1,300+ gross per week D.O.E and qualifications
• Working schedule: 5 days per week, up to 10 hours per day

Requirements:
• Qualified and experienced English-speaking Governess
• Minimum 5 years’ experience working with children of a similar age
• Previous experience supporting UK 11+ preparation is highly desirable
• Confident creating engaging educational programmes and teaching through play
• Caring, organised, flexible, and professional
• Comfortable working within a fully staffed household
• Happy and able to travel throughout the summer
• Valid passport with unrestricted travel ability preferred
• Clear enhanced DBS check
• Paediatric First Aid certificate (preferred)
• Excellent and contactable references (minimum of 3)
• Available to commence in July
