As a mother you are never off duty, even when you’re apart from your child they are still at the forefront of your heart and mind. The list of to-do’s is never ending, perhaps reading this opening paragraph has you sighing in agreement.  You may be exhausted, overwhelmed and sleep deprived but you are doing an incredible job!

It is often said that motherhood is the most difficult but rewarding job in the world.  It doesn’t come with an instruction manual and often it’s just a case of putting one foot in front of the next and hoping for the best.  Motherhood isn’t about being perfect, it’s about being real, loving and authentic. It’s about leading with the heart and not the head.  It’s about tenderness and connection and knowing that no matters what, a mother’s love conquers all.

Many mothers use positive affirmations to handle the daily demands of motherhood, which allows them to connect to a place of calm and peace no matter what chaos may ensue.  Daily positive affirmations can make a huge impact on our quality of lives and allow us to take life’s challenges in our stride.

Celebrity mothers who swear by this daily practice include Serena Williams, Reese Witherspoon and Jennifer Lopez.  JLo says that her day is incomplete without at least 15 minutes dedicated to affirmations.  Daily positive affirmations allow her to stay strong, grounded and calm.

Well if it’s good enough for JLo… how about we explore some affirmations that you might like to try out for yourself.

I am doing a wonderful job taking care of my children and I am enough

As women in general we have been taught that we are never quite enough.  Led to believe that when we have the perfect family life we will be enough. Once we look a certain way we’ll be enough.  Once we achieve a certain level of success we’ll be enough.  Well, affirm that from here on in you no longer strive to be or do more to be enough.  You are whole, beautiful and more than enough just as you are.

I am worthy and deserving of time to love and nurture myself

When you commit to a window of time each day to do something for yourself you are able to reconnect with your joy and show up for your family in a totally different way.  Rather than being the exhausted, martyr mother, you become the empowered, nurtured mother who operates from a full cup.

I love the way I care for my children and release any need for comparison

You love and care for your children in a way that only YOU can.  You follow your intuition and instincts to keep them safe, loved and protected.  The way you mother your children is your unique gift to the world.  Release any guilt for not winning first prize at the school bake sale or not having the P.E kits ironed and folded perfectly. You are doing a wonderful job and your children are so lucky to have you as their Mama!

So put a ‘me date’ in the diary, grab your favourite notebook and have fun making up your own affirmations. Get creative with the process and be your own biggest fan.  We’d love to hear what affirmation ideas you come up with!
