Welcome to Module 1 of our Governess and Governor course.

In this module you will learn about the differences between a Governess, Governor, Tutor, Nanny, Manny and an Au-Pair. By the end of this module you’ll know the duties and requirements you can expect from each role individually. We also cover the history of how Governessing came to be the important and popular role it is today.

Before you dive in into all the great aspects of a Governess job it is important to understand the difference between the childcare roles as they all have their own requirements and duties. It’s also important for a person to know exactly what type of childcare professional they are or want to be. For this reason, we offer access to this part of the course for free so that you are able to establish what area of childcare you wish to work in.

The boundaries between these roles often blur. So we want to ensure you choose the role that best matches your skills and interests.
